In a business where things seemingly stay the same; a change has taken place, a change that will raise the bar on the level of service a family can experience.

Smith Family Funeral Homes is proud to announce the joining of two long time family owned funeral homes. On March 17, 2016 Sam and Carol Smith, owners of Smith Family Funeral Homes, along with their daughter Hannah (Smith) Schmidt acquired Osgood Funeral Homes. This addition to Smith Family Funeral Homes will continue to serve our families in Elsie, St. Johns, Ithaca,St. Louis and now Ovid, Fowler and Maple Rapids with the same dignity and compassion that you have learned to expect from us.

It takes many years to build a reputation and to gain the trust of acommunity.  In 1899 W.R. Osgood and his son, Glenn Osgood bought S.H. Inghram & Son Funeral Home.   Since that time other family members have continued their family business.  Sam Smith and the staff of Smith Family Funeral Homes will carry on in that tradition, bringing with them over 30 years of experience. They have proudly served St. Johns and the surrounding communities with the philosophy of “Our Family Serving Yours”. They would also like to take this opportunity to thank the communities that they have been honored to serve.

All pre-arranged funeral agreements with Osgood Funeral Homes will be honored without interruption.  As will all pre-arranged agreements with Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Johns Chapel.  We will still continue to provide dignified & personal service, personalized register books, service folders with photos, Memorial DVDs, personalized vault covers, just to name a few areas that set us apart.  We will also notify Social Security, insurance companies and set up all aspects of a Veteran’s service.

To better serve you there will be minimal staffing changes and our phone numbers and website addresses will not change. Any questions or concerns that you may have can be directed to any of our chapels and we will gladly sit down and discuss them with you.
